Nirmal Singh Dhunsi, ਆਹ ਚੁੱਕੋ! ਰਾਬਰਟ ਅੱਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਹਾਇਕੂ 'ਤੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਅਥਾਰਟੀਆਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ, ਜੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੀ ਤਾਂ, ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਕਰਿਓ ਕਿ ਇਸ 'ਤੇ "ਲਾਈਕ" ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਹਤਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ : RECENT POSTS

Asni Amin This hokku brings to mind the image that Rita Odeh had for the May International Kukai contest with a picture of an elephant in Tel Aviv Zoo. It would be a perfect hokku for the image!

Jayashree Maniyil Dear Robert - as a beginner who is just learning to interpret, please feel free to correct my thoughts:

Through this hokku, I do feel a sense of depth by drawing similarities between the nature of elephant grass and a young boy's dreams. The phrase makes me think that you are referring to a particular young boy who is different to the rest. I could not interpret any seasonal reference other than possibly the perennial nature of elephant grass. And, I could also not see any movement other than to interpret the constant rejuvenation of the perennial grass (young boy's dreams). Could you clarify if I am on the right track in interpreting your hokku.

With reference to Sandi's passion flower hokku, I can see the seasonal reference and also the movement (yang) in the form of building desires (as similar to moving from winter to spring to summer). There is depth (the phrase invites me to question and go beyond) and similarity (change from dullness to life - cold season to warm season).

I look forward to your feedback and guidance.

I like the juxtaposition of LONG elephant grass bushes , with the Long Way from this boy,s dreams .
Is this long way from AFRICA to Vietnam?or the place that the poet is now living?
Human beings are alive with their long back emotions and memories,These dreams are like a tail that traces our lives.
It,s not very important This special young boy,s dreams that may be now is an old man , the most important is the generalization of this passage of time which flows in all creature,s mind and everybody can see his/her image in this hokku.
Ambiguity,sincerity and lightness(karumi) here is more highlight and Zoka is hidden in the winds that are now blowing in this Elephant grass field.I can see and hear the unsaid in these non-said words

Robert D. Wilson Elephant grass is everywhere in Vietnam, and not seasonal. Kigo is not important. Kigo are directional indicators. How I interpret my hokku isn't relevant to your interpretation. Each reader must interpret a hokku according to their own particular subjective cultural memories, experiences, education, biospheric locale, parentage, etc.

Rita Odeh The poet's way of dreams which started as he was a young boy is as long/ tall as the elephant grass which is taller than a human being and needs patience and persistence to walk through it.

Robert D. Wilson Each of you will interpret my poem differently since I haven't told all. I hint at using yugen (depth and mystery). What is line one's contribution to the hokku as a whole? Am I using it as a point of contrast, or as a geographical indicator, or to delineate a season?

Jayashree Maniyil If I may reconsider - I think L1 derives a point of similarity between the nature of the elephant grass to that of a young boy's dreams, imho. So, my answer will be NO to all of the options.

    ਵਧੀਆ ਰਚਨਾ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਚੱਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਫ਼ਰਕ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੀਮਤ ਜਿਹੀ ਸੋਚਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਖੇਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂI ਹਰ ਰਚੇਤੇ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਿਰਫ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨਾਲ ਤੇ ਇਹ ਏਡਾ ਛੋਟਾ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ
